Josh Leach promoted to Farmington Department of Public Works Superintendent

The City of Farmington is pleased to announce the promotion of Josh Leach to the position of Public Works Superintendent. Leach, a dedicated member of the city's team, has officially stepped up from Assistant Superintendent into his new role overseeing all aspects of the Department of Public Works (DPW).

Superintendent Leach began his career with Farmington DPW in 2007, where he was soon transferred to the Water and Sewer Department. In 2013, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent, where he was instrumental in managing and overseeing a broad scope of DPW functions that included “keeping the streets safe and parks beautiful.” Maintenance of streets and sidewalks, public buildings and facilities, trees and grounds, cemeteries, water systems, storm water management, and upkeep of City facilities and equipment, are just a few more items Leach managed.

Superintendent Leach is highly qualified, holding licenses as both a State S-1 Waterworks System Operator and Storm Water Management Operator. He plays a vital role in ensuring Farmington's water systems are safe, reliable, and compliant with all state and federal regulations through essential testing, including the annual Consumer Confidence Report, annual lead and copper sampling, and quarterly bacteriological testing.

In his new role, he will continue to be critical in the planning and organization of department operations, including personnel, budget, general administration, and capital needs assessments.

Most importantly, Superintendent Leach has built strong relationships with residents, businesses, and community partners throughout his tenure. He is committed to ensuring the Farmington DPW not only “keeps things running” but also significantly enhances the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits Farmington.

"We are incredibly proud to congratulate Josh on this well-deserved promotion," said City Manager David Murphy. "His depth of experience, technical expertise, and dedication to our community make him an ideal leader for our Department of Public Works. We look forward to his continued leadership."
