Erin Moylan sworn in as Farmington Public Safety Officer
Erin Moylan was sworn in as a Farmington Public Safety Officer at the Feb. 17, 2026, City Council Meeting. Her sister was there to pin on her badge.
Public Safety Officer (PSO) Moylan took an oath to uphold the law and the Constitution — a commitment that reflects not only a duty to enforce the law, but also a promise to serve with integrity, compassion, and accountability. As a public safety officer, she has pledged to protect the community and assist residents in their time of need.
A 2019 graduate of Farmington High School, Moylan was an athlete in field hockey and lacrosse. Encouraged by a coached who was also a retired police officer, she participated in a ride-along that sparked her interest in law enforcement and led her to pursue a career in criminal justice. After earning her degree from Schoolcraft College, Moylan attended the Wayne County Regional Police Academy. She began her career with the Farmington Public Safety Department as a Public Safety Assistant (PSA) and has expressed that she has “loved her time at Farmington” since joining the department.
“Moylan is joining law enforcement during a time when we need the best-of-the-best to join our department. After just a short time with us, I am confident that she will police with compassion, be just in her actions, and reflect the ideals of this city council and its public safety department,” said Farmington Public Safety Director Bob Houhanisin.
Houhanisin reaffirmed his commitment to supporting PSO Moylan throughout her career by providing comprehensive training, proper equipment, and access to resources that promote both physical and mental wellness. The department remains dedicated to advocating for the safety and well-being of all its officers.
The City of Farmington congratulates Public Safety Officer Erin Moylan and wishes her a long, successful, fulfilling, and safe career in service to the community.
