City of Farmington announces vacancies on its boards and commissions

The City of Farmington is seeking dedicated residents to fill vacancies on the Historical Commission, Beautification Committee, and the Commission on Children, Youth and Families.

The Farmington Historical Commission was established to 1) safeguard the heritage of the City by preserving the cultural, social, economic, political and architectural elements having historic significance; 2) to stabilize and improve property values in such districts; 3) to foster and promote civic beautification with emphasis on historical significance; 4) to promote the use of local history for education, pleasure and the welfare of the citizens of the City; and 5) to encourage the collection of records and objects that interpret the history of Farmington, and cooperate in the establishment and operation of a museum or other appropriate center for custody and display of such items. The vacancy is for a 3-year term on this commission. The commission meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

The Beautification Committee proposes and implements programs that improve the physical appearance of the community. The Beautification Committee consists of nine (9) members
serving staggered 3-year terms. There are currently two vacancies on this committee and they meeting on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Blue Hat Coffee. They are looking forward to their spring projects.

The Commission on Children, Youth and Families is a joint committee with Farmington Hills. Its mission is to encourage a supportive environment where children, youth, and families are happy, healthy, educated, safe, and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The vacancy is for a City of Farmington representative and is an alternate’s seat. This is a 3-year term and meets the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in Farmington Hills City Hall.
