Chamber Announces First Ever Light Up the Grand, A Holiday Lighted Parade

The Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its plans for Light Up the Grand – A Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade which is presented by Bright House Networks is set to take place on Saturday, December 6 at 5:00pm.
The parade will march across Grand River Ave. beginning at Warner St. and ending at Liberty St., right through the heart of Downtown Farmington. Parade floats or walkers must incorporate lights into their entries. Battery operated lights and glow sticks are highly encouraged!
“The Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to launch the Light Up the Grand-a Holiday Lighted Parade. We think this new, fully illuminated parade, will be welcomed by all ages. We invite all businesses, community and civic groups that service Farmington and Farmington Hills to participate in the parade”, stated Janet Bloom, Director of Programs and Events.

Light Up the Grand will be held in conjunction with the Holly Days, an annual Downtown Farmington tradition for many years. The Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing this holiday tradition, once held as a Farmington DDA event. Holly Days will kick off the celebration with the Farmington Winter Market at the American Legion operating 10am – 2 pm. Kids will enjoy a visit from Santa at Farmington’s “North Pole” from Noon – 4 pm and free holiday movies at the historic Farmington Civic Theater. More activities are currently being planned. All ages will delight in caroling and a visit with Santa at the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony, held at the Governor Warner Mansion following the Light Up the Grand parade.
